On episode 2190 of the Joe Rogan Experience (JRE) podcast, Joe Rogan hosted American billionaire Peter Thiel. The 56-year-old Thiel is well-known for having co-founded PayPal and funding other ventures. At one point in the episode, the two can be seen discussing the controversial Jeffrey Epstein.

Jeffrey Epstein was a financier, who faced an investigation for having se*ual relations with and soliciting an underage female in 2005. The American businessperson later received a 13-month jail term courtesy of a plea deal, which many argued was too lenient a punishment.

Moreover, in 2019, Epstein was arrested and faced federal charges in relation to alleged trafficking of minors. The 66-year-old was reportedly found dead in his jail cell at the Metropolitan Correctional Center in New York City, in Aug. 2019. Since then, there have been various theories surrounding his passing.

For his part, Rogan emphasized that Epstein clandestinely solicited the services of underage persons to wealthy patrons, thereby compromising them, and used it as leverage against these patrons.

At this juncture, Thiel pointed out that Epstein was presented to him as one of the most intelligent people in regard to taxes. Moreover, Thiel asserted that Rogan's theories about Epstein manipulating people by using their encounters with underage individuals as leverage might be true.

However, Thiel believes there could be other reasons behind his deep connections with the rich and powerful. That's when Joe Rogan intervened by disagreeing and stating:

"Most certainly. But I would think that that is one of the best motivators that we have; is having dirt on people like that, especially something that can ruin your career, especially people that are deeply embedded in this system of people knowing things about people and using those at their advantage. I mean, that's an age-old strategy in politics. That was J. Edgar Hoover's entire modus operandi."

Thiel, who Business Insider previously reported was an FBI informant, responded to Rogan by explaining that this case was different than ex-FBI head Hoover's strategy of controlling people by using their secrets. Thiel indicated that the people getting involved in Epstein's supposed secret club knew they'd be compromised but proceeded anyway as a method of joining the club.

Joe Rogan and Peter Thiel address alternate theories on Jeffrey Epstein

The U.S. authorities have faced widespread condemnation for not expounding upon the infamous 'Epstein List,' a list of high-profile clients to whom Epstein allegedly provided the services of underage se* workers.

Peter Thiel highlighted Epstein's association with billionaire Bill Gates, and speculated that Gates possibly procured Epstein's services to manage his taxes and "corrupt" left-wing philanthropic ventures. He and Rogan further questioned whether Epstein knew about Bill's issues with then-wife Melinda Gates and if that ultimately got him in trouble.

Furthermore, Joe Rogan underscored that the details regarding the 'Epstein List' are being kept confidential by the government. For context, while some names were disclosed by American authorities, the extent of their involvement remains unclear.
