UFC color commentator Joe Rogan recently hosted American right-wing political activist Matt Walsh on his podcast. During the lengthy conversation, Rogan compared the recent push to demolish statues of America's Founding Fathers to actions taken by the ultraconservative political and religious faction Taliban in Afghanistan.

Rogan’s stance was rooted around the removal of Confederate monuments and the subsequent debate over statues of figures like George Washington and Thomas Jefferson. According to reports, more than 160 Confederate monuments and memorials have been removed from public spaces in the United States, with all but five of those removals occurring since 2015.

These monuments, according to Rogan, had stood for over a century without contention. However, he pointed out that as America’s racial reckoning gained momentum, many began to question the legacy of historical figures who had owned slaves or contributed to systems of oppression.

All of these observations based on alleged ideological fervor led Rogan to draw the comparison to the Taliban, recalling how they demolished ancient statues of Buddha in Afghanistan. Speaking on the recent episode of The Joe Rogan Experience, he said:

“When the Taliban started blowing up those ancient statues of Buddhas... They destroyed things that were a part of human history that we would have studied for thousands of years. And they destroyed them because they didn’t go along with their religious ideology. And I think part of the woke thing is this religious ideology that has to be followed, and you cannot stray from the lines.”

He added:

“I remember Trump saying at the time, well the problem with that is eventually they’re going to take down George Washington. And everybody thought he was crazy … but once they got past Civil War people, then they got to, ‘who owned slaves?’ and then they got to taking down… statues of Thomas Jefferson, and eventually did get to George Washington.”

Joe Rogan praises Kamala Harris' performance against Donald Trump during debate

Joe Rogan praised vice president Kamala Harris for her performance during the ABC debate with former president Donald Trump. Rogan claimed that Harris "nailed" the debate and gave a mock chef’s kiss to emphasize his approval.

He noted she appeared "better prepared" than Trump, and referred to him as "funny like a comic," Speaking with American comedian Tom Segura, he said:

“The difference in that debate was not a difference in who’s gonna have better policies, who’s gonna be better for the country. The difference in the debate was who was better prepared and she was better prepared. Even when it came to asking tough questions, instead of answering them, she would just say things that she believed and they sounded real good."
