Joe Rogan and former Illinois governor Rod Blagojevich discussed the challenges that Donald Trump will face in implementing his policies. Trump defeated Democratic Party candidate, Kamala Harris, in the November 2024 United States presidential elections, securing his second term in office.
Trump aims to eliminate corruption and transform the US administration with a series of initiatives and a new team of individuals in key positions. He has identified several key issues to address, including but not limited to drug trafficking, illegal immigration, corruption, and the nation's geopolitical standing.
In a recent episode of the Joe Rogan Experience podcast, Rogan asked Blagojevich to share his insights on the difficulties of executing the President-elect's ambitious plan. Blagojevich said:
"You're talking about an almost immovable object... You're talking about the Deep State, you're talking about the entrenched interests within government and outside of government, you're talking about what I call the political-industrial complex. It exists in Washington, it exists in state governments like Springfield, Illinois. It's the usual people."

He added:
"The two parties are split on some issues but they play the game within certain parameters. And if somebody wants to think outside the box and challenge that, and actually shake that up and change the priorities of how they operate... Frankly, they actually benefit the people more. The mindset isn't what we can do for the people back home, the mindset really is, what the people back home can do for us!"
Blagojevich noted that this mindset is deeply entrenched in much of the bureaucracy, the military-industrial complex, and even the justice department, making it challenging for the new administration to change.

Rod Blagojevich tells Joe Rogan how the tussle between Donald Trump and the establishment might look like
In a discussion during the aforementioned episode of the Joe Rogan Experience podcast, Rod Blagojevich explained that Donald Trump and the established order will be in a perpetual state of conflict. He elaborated on what makes Trump a legitimate threat despite the odds being stacked against him:
"It's going to be a constant war. They're going to fight back and they're going to keep trying to do to Trump what they've been doing. And I think the opportunity for the Trump administration is the first six months to a year. Because this tme, he has a bit of a honeymoon with the voters. He didn't get that in 2016." [2:10]
He added:
"He's a real threat to change things. He's a guy who's actually trying to keep the promises. His appointments, they'e very different, they're very unusual. But they show he learned the lesson that you can't trust those Washington insiders. Because they will infiltrate your government, and they'll be the ones that will not carry out your orders." [3:03]
Rogan, a vocal supporter of Trump, endorsed him heading into the presidential elections. He has discussed the opportunities for transformation in sensitive areas during Trump's presidential term with several of his guests.
