UFC commentator Joe Rogan recently shared his thoughts on the growing prevalence of Artificial Intelligence (AI) and social media in society. The 57-year-old had psychiatry professor Rick Strassman on the Joe Rogan Experience.
At one point during their conversation, which lasted over three hours, the two individuals discussed AI and social media. Rogan opined that people are focused on and driven toward technological advancement as it leads to significant monetary benefits.
The UFC commentator added how AI and social media could soon lead to the creation of a sentient being:
"There's a very weird competitive drive towards technological innovation that exists with people because it's attached to monetary gain, right? And the companies that are involved in the most technological, sophisticated work, whether it's AI or whether it's social media, like when you're programming things [on a] giant scale, it's incredibly profitable, incredibly profitable. And the technology moves along with the profit and, ultimately, it's going to make a being. It's pretty close to making a being."

Quentin Tarantino speaks about the difference between movies and TV shows on Joe Rogan's podcast
Prominent filmmaker Quentin Tarantino and director Roger Avary also recently made appearances on the Joe Rogan Experience.
Tarantino spoke to Rogan about movies and TV shows and gave his reasoning for why he preferred the former over the latter.
The Pulp Fiction director argued how there was a payoff in watching a good movie, which he sees as lacking in TV shows:
"The difference between [movies and TV shows] is I'll see a good western movie and I'll remember it for the rest of my life. I'll remember the story, I'll remember this scene or that scene and it built to an emotional climax of some degree. One, the story is good, it's not just about the interpersonal relationships. The story is good itself, but there's a payoff to it. But there's not a payoff [in TV shows], it's just more interconnectional drama."
