Episode #2249 of The Joe Rogan Experience saw the popular podcaster welcome fellow comedians Yannis Pappas and Chris Distefano. During their sitdown, the group discussed Virgie Tovar, the San Francisco Weight Czar, who was hired by the city's Department of Health as a weight stigma expert.
Tovar has courted controversy ever since her appointment due to her $12,000 income and, in particular, fat acceptance activism, with a particular statement made two years ago on the Ulta Beauty podcast resurfacing. The statement in question was Tovar claiming that no one has to be healthy.
This drew the ire of the longtime UFC commentator, who unleashed the full brunt of his feelings on Tovar's views.
"Did you see the San Francisco lady they just hired? A czar to stop fat phobie, have you seen this lady? It's wonderful. Hold please. Cause this is a city that's completely crumbling, that has no resources, but has enough money to hire this person. Oh, it's not making fun of fat people, it's literally, like, encouraging people to be fat and saying that there's nothing wrong with being fat, which is crazy."

Thereafter, the former 'Fear Factor' host pulls up a clip of Tovar talking about the social stigma related to weight gain. He then takes further aim at not just her, but liberal women in general.
"Statistically, 60% of liberal women are mentally ill. Sixty. This is what that is. This is mental illness."
