UFC commentator and podcast host Joe Rogan has shared his thoughts on the drug Ibogaine. Rogan recently had former Texas governor Rick Perry along with W. Bryan Hubbard, executive director of the American Ibogaine Initiative, on The Joe Rogan Experience.

As the three individuals were discussing Ibogaine, Rogan chimed in and claimed how it not addictive and could allegedly help people recover from addiction, among other things.

"Ibogaine is one of those drugs that is not a party drug. No one uses it recreationally. There's no potential whatsoever for addiction to that drug. As a matter of fact, it actually cures addiction, somehow rewires the brain."

As reported by chron.com, Perry is an ardent advocate for drugs and believes in educating the public about plant-based drugs as they could be helpful for tackling the mental health challenges faced by numerous war veterans.

"My job, and our job, is to be able to educate the people about this psychoactive plant medicine that is absolutely showing a stunning ability to bring people back to normalcy. To literally give them their lives back." [H/t: chron.com]

Obtained from the root bark of the iboga shrub in Central Africa, Ibogaine currently finds its place under Schedule I of the Controlled Substances Act. This means that the drug currently cannot be used for any medical purposes and it could prove to be addictive.

During his conversation with Rogan, Perry opined that it was a good time to introduce the drug to the public and added that President-elect Trump could possibly help in making the drug readily available to the masses.

"There's never been [a better] time to see the cards kinda being laid out on the table in a good way. I'm convinced Joe, that once the general public understands what this is, how it works, how it can be used in a wonderful, therapeutic way and the lives that can be saved... at that particular time, I think this becomes a bit of a no-brainer, so to speak."
