In a recent episode (#2239) of The Joe Rogan Experience podcast, fitness educator and entrepreneur Derek Munro joined Rogan. They discussed a variety of topics, from health to USADA.
During the podcast, Munro asked the UFC commentator about the article he sent him regarding USADA covering up athlete test results. Later, they read the entire article on the show. During that moment, Rogan revealed the reason behind the UFC's decision to part ways with USADA, saying:
“According to the UFC, what happened was the UFC had some disputes with them and decided to sever their relationship, and then USADA publicly said that UFC is going to allow their competitors to do steroids now, which is not the case at all. They already had a contract in place with Drug-Free Sport. I talked to the guy from Drug-Free Sport, and he was essentially laying out the program. It was essentially identical: no BPC-157, no testosterone, growth, nothing. You can’t do anything.”

USADA partnered with UFC as the official anti-doping agency in 2015, but relations between the two organizations began to deteriorate over time. Conor McGregor's absence from the USADA testing pool became a significant issue after he sustained a leg injury at UFC 264 in July 2021 against Dustin Poirier. He had not been tested for over two years due to his recovery.
According to USADA rules, a fighter must provide two clean tests, six months apart, before they can return to competition. However, McGregor was allowed to return without meeting this requirement. This decision led USADA CEO Travis Tygart to publicly criticize the UFC. Then the promotion ended its partnership with USADA and signed Drug Free Sport International (DFSI) as its new official anti-doping agency.
Derek Munro accuses USADA of letting Olympic athletes escape doping exposure on Joe Rogan's podcast
The Canadian YouTuber, known for his self-improvement videos on his channel More Plates More Dates, Derek Munro, accused the anti-doping agency USADA in the aforementioned Joe Rogan's podcast of using Olympic-level athletes to catch other sportspersons using drugs, in return for covering up their own positive drug tests. This revelation left Rogan shocked, as Munro said:
“Olympic-level athletes and elite athletes kept it very vague, really. Essentially, they just closed what they had tested positive for, and even that one of them was an Olympic-caliber athlete. Their entire career, they got to go until retirement without getting exposed just because they helped USADA supposedly catch other people. So, if you helped them catch people, then you could get away with using like full board to stop.” [0:30 onwards in the aforementioned video]
