Joe Rogan discussed the infamous Jan. 6 United States Capitol attack with filmmakers Quentin Tarantino and Roger Avary. On Jan. 6, 2021, a mob of individuals, alleged to be supporters of Donald Trump, stormed and vandalized the Capitol building in Washington D.C. They were reportedly attempting to stage a civilian coup to keep Trump in power after he lost the 2020 United States presidential election.

In a recent episode of the Joe Rogan Experience podcast that aired on Dec. 10, Rogan and his guests, Tarantino and Avary, questioned who the true perpetrators were and expressed suspicions regarding possible government involvement. Avary said:

"I watched it live. There was this Antifa guy waving people in... They were removing the barricades and the cops were waving people in. They were opening the doors for the people."

Rogan responded:

"In the most heavily armed nation in the world, why would you have an insurrection with no guns? They were not planning on an insurrection and then you have the factor that the agents in the crowd. And you don't know how many. There's government agents in the crowd that were inciting people to go in."

Joe Rogan, Quentin Tarantino, and Roger Avary speak about the Jan. 6 rioters being jailed without the due legal process

A large number of protesters were arrested after the Jan. 6 attacks and continue to be held in prisons without trial. Rogan argued that most of the protesters did not have a complete understanding of the situation and were led to participate in the riots by those who meticulously planned the incident.

"They were playing chess and these idiots were playing checkers. And they all got locked up." [1:39:30]

Avary responded:

"There was no presumption that they were going to get thrown in jail for a thousand days. And so, my pal Jake Lang, he's been there forever. I deserve to go to jail. That guy doesn't... And most of those guys don't." [1:39:40]

He further stated:

"They should [at least] be going to trial. It is unconscionable to hold somebody for over a year, two years..." [1:41:03]

Quentin Tarantino shared his insights, explaining that when someone is under investigation for federal conspiracy, they can get arrested and prosecuted simply for knowing about and willingly agreeing to take part in the crime, even when the crime has not been committed yet and there is no physical evidence. Articles published on several law forums back Tarantino's statement.

To the relief of Jan. 6 rioters, United States President-elect Donald Trump has promised to pardon them on "day one" of his presidential term, which has sparked debate online.
