Episode #2241 of The Joe Rogan Experience welcomed American psychedelic drug researcher Rick Strassman to the podcast. During the pair's conversation, the UFC commentator speculated on whether Elon Musk's Neuralink Corp. initiative could assist those suffering from suicidal inclinations.

Neuralink's primary aim is to develop brain-computer interfaces in the form of chips, which would be able to assist people suffering from various impairments relating to brain function. Naturally, Rogan wondered whether Musk could, in some way, tackle the psychological cause of rising suicide rates.

"Imagine if we can cure that with Elon Musk's Neuralink? Everybody sign up."

The conversation between Strassman and the longtime UFC commentator emerged due to their earlier discussion about civilians who used to take their own lives by laying on train tracks and awaiting an arriving train. This isn't the first time that Rogan has expressed an interest in bettering the mind.

The 57-year-old is a massive proponent of psychedelic drugs as a means of acquainting oneself with their deepest thoughts. He even credits psychedelics for helping broaden his own mental and spiritual horizons, with his championing of psychedelics once landing him in an argument with Neil deGrasse Tyson.

Mental health is also of particular importance in combat sports, with rising UFC lightweight Paddy Pimblett once using his post-fight interview to encourage men to seek help if they're struggling with depression and suicidal thoughts. One-time light heavyweight title challenger Khalil Rountree Jr. is another with similar sentiments.

Joe Rogan is a great supporter of Elon Musk

Neuralink Corp. isn't the only initiative belonging to Elon Musk that Joe Rogan has championed. When the SpaceX CEO expressed an interest in acquiring Twitter, which he ultimately did, rebranding it as X, Rogan heavily supported Musk's decision, hailing him as a champion of free speech.

A more recent example of his support for Musk was seen in his reaction to Musk flirting with the idea of acquiring MSNBC.

"If you buy MSNBC I would like Rachael [Rachel] Maddow's job. I will wear the same glasses and outfit, and I will tell the same lies."

Ultimately, Musk did not acquire MSNBC, yet Rogan remains a strong supporter of many of his decisions.
