Former world champion John Lineker is out to reclaim the ONE bantamweight title in his rematch against fellow Brazilian Fabricio Andrade later this month. He is banking on his celebrated punching power to get the job done.
'Hands of Stone' will reengage with 'Wonder Boy' for the vacant bantamweight world title at ONE Fight Night 7 on Prime Video. The event is set for February 24 in Bangkok, Thailand.
John Lineker is eyeing redemption after being stripped of the belt last time around for missing weight before being largely dominated by Andrade in their first meeting. However, the match ended in a no contest as Lineker was unable to continue after being struck by an accidental knee in the groin in the third round.
Ahead of their rematch, Lineker believes that knockout power remains a huge advantage for him over his rival and will not hesitate to unleash it if the opportunity presents itself in the redo.

John Lineker told ONE Championship:
“As always, I will look for the knockout. This time will be no different. I just need one punch to win the fight.”
Prior to the no-contest outcome in his last fight, John Lineker was on a roll, winning four straight, the last three by stoppage.
ONE Fight Night 7 will take place at the Lumpinee Boxing Stadium and will be aired live and for free to all Prime Video subscribers in North America.
“Everything we expected happened” - John Lineker looking to avoid same mistakes from his first fight with Fabricio Andrade
John Lineker has learned his lesson and will look to make the necessary adjustments when he battles anew with rival Fabricio Andrade for the vacant ONE bantamweight world title later this month.
'Hands of Stone' struggled in his first world title clash with Andrade, which ended in a no contest last October. That was not so much because he was caught off-guard by what 'Wonder Boy' brought to the fight, but more because he failed to adjust accordingly to how the match flowed.
It is something he is now fully aware of heading into the redo at ONE Fight Night 7 on Prime Video on February 24 in Bangkok.
John Lineker told Sportskeeda MMA:
“He knows how to use knockout blows a lot, with knees, kicks... He's very skilled. It didn't surprise me too much, because everything we expected happened. I was already expecting the knees and kicks. He knows how to execute the blows with excellence, but now I'm going to take more care of that part and stay off target.”
Apart from his game plan, Lineker is also working on maintaining weight so as not to have a repeat of what happened in the first fight. He was stripped of the title prior to the match for failing to keep his weight within the bantamweight level.
