UFC light heavyweight contender Johnny Walker has pulled out from his fight at UFC 311 against Bogdan Guskov, scheduled to be held on Jan. 18. The Brazilian fighter has been through a rough patch lately losing his last two fights through vicious knockouts against Magomed Ankalaev and Volkan Oezdemir.
Once favored as the only light heavyweight who could bring the fight to Jon Jones, Walker has struggled in the UFC since his shoulder injury back in 2020. He was looking to get back to winning ways against Guskov after losing six of his last 11 fights and was left disappointed by his injury. He took to Instagram in a video and said:
" I’m devastated. A lot of hard work I put in a few months, trained a lot, and I really want to come back and do the show for you, but not this time. I wish Bogdan good luck, hopefully he can find an opponent because he probably put a lot of hard work as well, so hopefully he can find a replacement very soon. I know this is not good news, but I have to make a right decision and accept this and recover, come back strong because now."

When Johnny Walker protested his half-brother's debut loss in the UFC
UFC light heavyweight contender Johnny Walker's half-brother Valter Walker debuted earlier this year at UFC Vegas 90. In the fight, Walker attempted several submissions but couldn't submit Lukasz Brzeski in any of them. A loss spoiled his promotional debut but it also took away his undefeated record.
In a post on X, Walker said:
"How do they score this fight? Submission attempt, take down, floor control? How much it worth? I think Valter won"
