Jon Jones believes Stipe Miocic is "definitely" more "well-rounded" than Ciryl Gane

Soon after being crowned the new UFC heavyweight champion, Jon Jones proceeded to call out former champion Stipe Miocic. Jones had an emphatic first-round submission win over Ciryl Gane at UFC 285, capturing his second divisional belt and arguably the title for MMA GOAT.

A fan on Twitter tweeted at Jon Jones, telling him that beating Stipe Miocic would mean nothing since the former champion is aging and past his prime. Jones chose to disagree with the fan and replied with the following:

"In my head, he’s better than he’s ever been. He’s definitely a lot more experienced and well-rounded than Gane. This is an extremely important fight for both of our legacies, [and] I must treat it as such."

Here's how Jon Jones called out Miocic in the post-fight interview with Joe Rogan:

"Oh yeah, baby! Y'all want to see me beat up Stipe? One thing I know about the UFC, is we give the fans what they want to see. Stipe Miocic, I hope you're training, my guy. You're the greatest heavyweight of all time. And that's what I want. I want you, real bad."

Jon Jones vs. Stipe Miocic - Speculating who would win between the titans

There was a point where people were busy speculating on the winner and outcome of a match between newly minted heavyweight champion Jon Jones and former champion Francis Ngannou. Now that Ngannou's left the UFC, a more likely question is - who will win the bout between Jon Jones and Stipe Miocic?

Stipe Miocic is five years older than Jones and has suffered knockout losses in two of his last four fights. Jones has never been knocked out or submitted in his career. However, Miocic is an excellent boxer and is an NCAA Division-1 wrestler. Miocic has some of the best boxing in the heavyweight division and could take out any fighter on a good night.

Jones shouldn't engage in a fire-fight with Miocic, but there's a good chance that he already knows that since he has a very high fight IQ. Jones should use his reach to pick Miocic out from the outside, utilizing oblique kicks to disable Miocic's movement and punching ability.

According to BetOnline.ag, Jones is the betting favorite at -360 against the underdog Miocic, who is at +295. That still doesn't mean that we can count the former heavyweight champion out.

Miocic has dispatched names like Daniel Cormier (twice), Francis Ngannou, Junior dos Santos, Fabricio Werdum, Allistaire Overeem, and Mark Hunt, to name a few. He is also the only man to defend the heavyweight title thrice consecutively and four times as heavyweight champion. Miocic may most likely give Jones his toughest test to date.
