MMA fans recently voiced their thoughts on Tom Aspinall's revelation regarding making a massive announcement soon. Aspinall never mentioned what exactly his announcement would be related to, but most fans expressed that they would be severely disappointed if it wasn't something related to Jon Jones.
Aspinall fixed his eyes on unifying his UFC interim heavyweight gold after winning it at UFC 295 in November 2023. He tried to make his case for a title unification fight against Jones multiple times. But Jones kept ignoring Aspinall's callouts by portraying that he wasn't worthy enough.
Jones' first heavyweight title defense fight against Stipe Miocic was scheduled before Aspinall claimed the interim heavyweight title. The fight finally took place at UFC 309 and featured Jones defending his title successfully. Since then, fans have expressed that the UFC must follow its tradition and book a title unifier.
Aspinall uploaded a video to his Instagram story to reveal that he had a "big announcement" coming up soon. He said:

"Ok, Guys. Big announcement coming to my channels tomorrow, Tuesday 9:00 am, UK time. I'm so excited, [that] I've lost my voice. Make sure you guys get over there. It's gonna be a massive announcement [and] you guys are gonna love it."
Later, @SpinninBackfist also put out a tweet highlighting Aspinall's revelation.
The comments section showcased that most fans wanted Aspinall to announce something related to the finalization of his much-awaited encounter against Jones. One such comment read:
"Jon Jones fight date or riot"
Others concurred:
"Bones vacates the belt, Tommy boy is elevated to real champ status, and he’s going to fight the winner of Gane vs Volkov"
"He’s fighting Jon obviously"
"UFC is really making him announce Jones vs Pereira 😓"

Jon Jones prefers vacating the undisputed heavyweight gold rather than fighting Tom Aspinall
The UFC 309 main event between Jon Jones and Stipe Miocic ended with 'Bones' managing to secure his first heavyweight title defense. It also raised a lot of questions about whether the Rochester native would maintain the UFC's tradition and fight the interim heavyweight champ, Aspinall, or not.
Jones' post-UFC 309 press conference clarified the haze related to this. It had Jones mentioning that he would prefer relinquishing the undisputed heavyweight gold for a fight against Alex Pereira than to lock horns with Aspinall next. He said:
"I don't want to fight dangerous up-comers anymore. I want to fight dangerous established champions. So, Tom [Aspinall] could have [can take] the heavyweight championship. I don't really care about it. My value doesn't lie in belts anymore."
