Jones has shared the octagon with both Reyes and Smith for the UFC light heavyweight title in the past and has scored victories against both of them.

A few weeks before UFC 310, Smith's coach and mentor Scott Morton passed away. 'Lionheart' appeared to be struggling with the grief as he was visibly emotional during his walkout at UFC 310.

The fight did not go well for Smith as Reyes scored a knockout victory in the second round of the bout.

After the contest, UFC commentator Joe Rogan interviewed an emotional Smith, who spoke about the passing away of Morton. The 36-year-old expressed uncertainty about his fighting future as he would no longer have Morton in his corner.

"Man, I don't even give a f**k about the fight. I don't know how many times I can do this. Scott was my best friend. I thought I could push it down but I couldn't even control it while walking in here. So, I don't know, man. I gotta do some thinking but I don't know how many times I can do this without him."

When Rogan asked about the UFC 310 bout possibly being his last octagon appearance, 'Lionheart' responded by saying:

"Man, I don't know. Probably. But, it's been a long road, man, I wanna think on it but probably."
