Ahead of his highly anticipated return to action, Jon Jones went sneaker shopping in New York City. As he picked out shoes that would look good on him, the legendary former light heavyweight champion shared his opinion on which UFC fighters should be brand ambassadors for footwear companies.
In a recent interview with Complex, 'Bones' was asked to name two other fighters who he thought deserved their own sneaker deals. Keeping their stardom and trendy fashion sense in mind, Jones named Israel Adesanya and Conor McGregor as his two choices:
"If I had to recommend, I don't like this fighter very much, but I can't deny Israel Adesanya... He's a statement-maker... And then there's Conor McGregor. He makes us all look good... Those are the two guys that seem like they got it going on when it comes to fashion and style."

Jon Jones Shoe Deal: When Nike's first Jon Jones edition shoes sold out in less than two minutes
Jon Jones is no stranger to the world of sole-thread fashion. The sneakerhead has previously collaborated with global sports apparel giant Nike, who signed him to a worldwide sponsorship contract in 2012. While the deal didn't last long and was terminated two years later, Nike designed a signature sneaker line for Jones, stocks of which sold out in record time.
Launched in 2013, the Nike Free Trainer 5.0 Jon 'Bones' Jones edition became the first-ever signature shoe released by Nike for a mixed martial artist in the United States.
With Jones being the youngest-ever UFC champion, Nike's decision to sign him paid off as the limited edition shoes flew off the shelves within two minutes. Furthermore, the 35-year-old American also had a signature Nike T-shirt released at the same time as his shoe, which also sold out on the very first day of its launch.
While the total sales figures of the shoes and apparel produced were not disclosed, it's still an impressive feat for an MMA fighter and first-time Nike athlete to have a sell-out in that timeline.
