Islam Makhachev isn't short on confidence despite now having to defend his UFC lightweight title against Renato Moicano on just 24 hours' notice. After his face-off with the Brazilian, the Dagestani star's prediction for their bout's outcome has left fans on X/Twitter praising him in waves.
While Moicano is on a hot streak of four consecutive wins, including three finishes, Makhachev has expressed little concern despite having spent his entire camp preparing for Arman Tsarukyan. When asked by Joe Rogan at the ceremonial weigh-ins if the change in opponent means anything, he said the following:
"No, same. Smash my opponent, that's it. No matter who is gonna be in front of me, let's go."

Fans were quick to form a thread under the tweeted clip, with many praising Makhachev for his willingness to take on all comers regardless of the circumstances. While Tsarukyan was certainly a difficult fight, Moicano presents different challenges.
Makhachev is a massive betting favorite against Moicano, and any hint of a struggle against him could negatively impact his stock, given the Brazilian's No.10 ranking at lightweight. For now, though, fans are in awe of the lightweight champion's courage.
"True champ"
Another fan compared him favorably to Jon Jones, who is known for turning down short-notice opponents, even with a perceived stylistic advantage.
"Jon Jones could never"
Others praised Makhachev as the pound-for-pound best fighter in the world, a title that Jones believes belongs to him.

Islam Makhachev has already defended his title against a short-notice opponent
At UFC 294, Islam Makhachev was scheduled to defend his lightweight title against former foe Charles Oliveira. Unfortunately, the Brazilian suffered a severe cut close to the fight and withdrew. Alexander Volkanovski stepped in on 10 days' notice, eager for a rematch with his rival.
The fight, though, did not go his way. Makhachev knocked him out with a thunderous head kick in round one.
