Reigning UFC heavyweight champion Jon Jones is set to return to the octagon to face former two-time heavyweight champion Stipe Miocic at UFC 309. Ahead of the clash, Jones took to social media to share some snippets from his training camp for the bout.
The post featured his teammates and coaches, including Gordon Ryan and Gable Steveson. He expressed appreciation for his teammates and coaches for being there for him. He also promised to make his fans proud once again and penned a heartfelt message for them. A part of the caption read:
“More than anything, I'm grateful. Grateful to everyone who's put their time and effort into this journey. We are better together, and I'm so blessed to have one of the strongest teams in mixed martial arts history. What started as friendships have become unbreakable brotherhoods. My coaches have given me their absolute best, sacrificing nights away from their families. To my loyal teammates, there aren't enough ways to express my thanks.”
He also added:

The bout was originally slated for UFC 295, but ‘Bones’ had to withdraw due to injury, as he suffered a torn pectoral tendon during training camp. UFC 309 will mark his return to the octagon after being out of action for more than a year and a half.
Stipe Miocic praises Jon Jones ahead of UFC 309
UFC 309 will also mark the return of former two-time heavyweight champion Stipe Miocic, who has been out of action for over three years. In the main event, Miocic will face Jon Jones in what will be Jones's first heavyweight title defense.
Meanwhile, during a recent interview with MMA Fighting, the 42-year-old opened up about why ‘Bones’ is a great fighter, saying:
"I think he's just good at what he does. He's an artist! He knows how to mix it up. He knows how to keep a guy guessing him, you know... That's why he's done so well."
