UFC reigning heavyweight champion Jon Jones recently reacted to a post that highlighted the top three UFC pound-for-pound reigns in the promotion's history.

In his most recent fight, Jones squared off with former heavyweight champion Stipe Miocic and secured a dominant victory in the third round via spinning back kick to the body at UFC 309. This victory helped him move up in the P4P rankings, dethroning Alex Pereira to secure the second spot. The top spot is still held by Islam Makhachev.

Home Of Fight shared a post on Instagram highlighting the top three longest P4P reigns in UFC history. At No. 1 is ‘Bones’ who held the position for 1,743 days, while flyweight legend Demetrious Johnson with 718 days is in second place. At No. 3 is lightweight champion Makhachev, who has held the position for 421 days as of now.

Dana White declared Jon Jones the pound-for-pound best

Many fans and pundits believe that Jon Jones should be ranked as the No. 1 pound-for-pound fighter instead of Islam Makhachev. UFC CEO Dana White is also among those who have vocalized this opinion.

Following Makhachev's impressive victory against Dustin Poirier at UFC 302, White shared his thoughts about the lightweight champion being ranked No. 1 pound-for-pound in the post-event press conference. He said:

“I don't think he's [Islam] the pound-for-pound best fighter in the world. For anybody to call Islam the pound-for-pound best fighter in the world when Jon Jones is still fighting is nuts. Jones is the best ever. When you think about what pound-for-pound really means, [Makhachev] fought [Alexander] Volkanovski, who’s a weight class lower than him. Jon Jones beat everybody at light heavyweight then beat the best heavyweight in the division like it was nothing at a higher weight class.”

White added:

“Jon Jones is absolutely, positively the pound-for-pound best fighter in the world and probably the greatest fighter of all-time in any sport. When you talk about who’s the baddest dude in the world, you put two guys in a row and who walks out? Jon Jones walks out of the f*cking room every time. No question about it."
