The UFC ranking system has been a topic of hot discussion this year among many fighters, the media, and promotional frontman Dana White himself. Many have questioned the ranking system and claimed that it needs to change, arguing that Jon Jones should be the number one pound-for-pound fighter instead of Islam Makhachev.

Now, UFC heavyweight fighter Derrick Lewis has joined the discussion. Lewis is set to fight Jhonata Diniz on Nov. 3 this Sunday at UFC Fight Night in Edmonton, Canada.

During a media day interaction, Lewis was asked to share his thoughts on the upcoming fight between Jones and Stipe Miocic. Lewis replied, saying:

"I think Jon will beat him (Miocic) in the first round. It's crazy to see that a lot of people disrespect Jones like that, like he isn't the GOAT for real. A lot of people keep throwing around the GOAT term and this and that. Jones has been at the top level against all these top-ranked opponents for so many years.”

Later, the reporter asked him whether he considers 'Bones' the number one pound-for-pound fighter. ‘The Black Beast’ agreed, stating that Jones should be ranked number one:

“He's for sure pound-for-pound number one. It's crazy how many of these guys keep getting ranked pound-for-pound without having that many fights. It's crazy that these guys come into the UFC now, have two or three fights, and already pass up everyone who has been fighting for years to get ranked pound-for-pound. I'm like, 'Damn, that's just complete disrespect.'"

Jon Jones shared a major update on his current weight ahead of UFC 309

Jon Jones is set to return to the octagon in an intriguing clash with former two-time UFC heavyweight champion Stipe Miocic at UFC 309, which will take place on Nov. 16 at Madison Square Garden in New York City, United States.

Ahead of the fight, 'Bones' revealed his current weight. He took to Instagram to share video clips of himself performing weight training exercises and revealed that he is currently at 240 pounds and feels like a light heavyweight.

'240 pounds, fast and strong. I used to walk around at 235lbs as a light heavyweight. This almost feels like a light heavyweight fight without the weight cut. @mr_nfp @jjstanbro''

Jones vs. Miocic was scheduled for UFC 295 last year, but Jones suffered a torn pectoral tendon that required surgery, forcing him to pull out of the fight.
