Jonathan Haggerty is confident he can parlay his stand-up skills into a successful run in mixed martial arts.

After making a name for himself at flyweight, Haggerty made the move to bantamweight and immediately took over the weight class, capturing titles in both Muay Thai and kickboxing with a pair of sensational knockouts against Nong-O Hama and current bantamweight MMA titleholder Fabricio Andrade.

Sitting as one of the promotion's most dominant two-sport titleholders, 'The General' truly believes he has what it takes to conquer yet another sport and follow in the footsteps of former kickboxers turned MMA superstars Alex Pereira and Israel Adesanya.

"Adesanya and Perreira are stand-up fighters, and they’ve used that as their base in MMA and they’ve gone on to be the greatest," Jonathan Haggerty told Sky Sports MMA Club.

"So looking at them, I see myself being able to do something like that too. I’ve already got the stand-up there and we’d just need to pick up the ground game or wrestling really."

Jonathan Haggerty puts his Muay Thai title on the line against Superlek at ONE 168

Since making his promotional debut more than five years ago, Jonathan Haggerty has gone toe-to-toe with some of the best in the business, including Joesph Lasiri, Sam-A Gaiyanghadao, Nong-O, Fabricio Andrade, and of course, Rodtang.

In February, 'The General' successfully defended his ONE bantamweight Muay Thai world title for the first time, demolishing the 'Demolition Man' Felipe Lobo via a third-round knockout at ONE Fight Night 19.

On Friday, September 6, he'll look to bag another successful title defense when he squares off with one of the most dangerous strikers in all of ONE Championship, Superlek Kiatmoo9.

The two titans will square off at ONE 168 when the promotion heads back to The Mile High City — Denver, Colorado — for a history-making night of fights in the United States.
