Jonathan Haggerty concedes 2024 wasn't his 'best year' in ONE Championship: "You can't always have it your own way"

Jonathan Haggerty has achieved some incredible success throughout his career in ONE Championship.

The Brit has reached some great heights but he has overcome some serious adversity and setbacks along the way.

His ability to learn, evolve, and bounce back is a big reason why he has been so effective at the highest level.

For Haggerty, 2024 has been a year that he will need to push past to produce a better campaign in 2025.

Though he did start the year off with a successful title defense against Felipe Lobo, he had to overcome a very tough fight in order to get his hand raised.

In his return at ONE 168: Denver, the world champion was dethroned following a swift elbow from Superlek Kiatmoo9 that brought his title reign to an end.

Jonathan Haggerty spoke in a recent interview with ONE Championship about how he is looking forward to the year ahead so that he can put 2024 behind him.

'The General' will be in action at one of the first big events of the year and he's motivated to turn his fortunes around:

"I wouldn't say it's the best year I've had. 2023 was great in comparison. It's the way it goes; you can't always have it your way. I'm just going to make sure 2025 is going to be the best year possible."

Jonathan Haggerty is set to return for his first outing of the new year when he puts his ONE bantamweight kickboxing world championship on the line.

In the main event of ONE 171: Qatar on Feb. 20, it will be him versus 'Demon Blade' Wei Rui at the Lusail Sports Arena.

'The General' has the perfect opportunity to trigger a chain of events that will give him some much-needed momentum if he is able to go out there and make a statement against his next challenger.

Who knows what 2025 will have in store for Haggerty following the rollercoaster ride of his recent years.
