In recent years, Jonathan Haggerty has established himself as one of the top stars in ONE Championship.

The British striker, who accomplished two-sport glory in 2023, is proud to represent his country and striking sports on the global stage through all of the success that he has had throughout his run with the promotion.

If there's one fighter that set a new benchmark for star status and influence in combat sports, it's 'The Notorious' Conor McGregor. The former MMA world champion has brought more eyes to MMA than anyone else even in recent years, where his activity has been incredibly inconsistent.

During a recent interview on the Winners Talking Podcast, Jonathan Haggerty was asked how he would approach a dream boxing clash with the Irishman.

The fight would be a clash of styles by pitting a mixed martial artist up against a current kickboxing world champion and former multiple-time Muay Thai champion.

'The General' said that he would try to play to his strengths, because whilst he has faced some of the best in the world before, the left hand of McGregor can't be underestimated:

"If he catches me, it won't be a good night. If I catch him, it will be a good night. I might just have to slip in an elbow. That's it, step in with an elbow. He's a southpaw as well. If I'm honest, I say it all the time, I fight better against southpaws."

Jonathan Haggerty is still evolving as a striker

At 27 years old, as a striker who broke onto the scene at an early age, we're still seeing the progression and evolution of Jonathan Haggerty.

He's had a couple of setbacks during his time in ONE Championship, but 'The General' always comes back stronger and that's exactly what he'll look to do at ONE 171.

With the promotion returning to the Lusail Sports Arena in Qatar on February 20, Haggerty will put the ONE bantamweight kickboxing world championship on the line in the main event when he faces Chinese kickboxing megastar 'Demon Blade' Wei Rui.
