Jonathan Haggerty locks in his steely mindset ahead of ONE Fight Night 9

Two weeks before his world title showdown, Jonathan Haggerty of the United Kingdom is already locked in and ready to go.

‘The General’ vies for the ONE bantamweight Muay Thai world title against long-time world champion Nong-O Hama in the headlining fight at ONE Fight Night 9 on Prime Video on April 21 at the famed Lumpinee Boxing Stadium in Bangkok.

Jonathan Haggerty will try to become a two-division ONE world champion after previously holding the ONE flyweight Muay Thai gold just as he will attempt to stop the reign of Nong-O, who has been bantamweight Muay Thai king since 2019.

In a recent Instagram post, the striker from the UK gave a glimpse of the kind of mindset he has entering the world title clash:

“‘Attitude of a champion. hustle like an underdog. 15 days @onechampionship on @primevideo #OneFightNight9,’ wrote Haggerty.”

As he chases another world title, Jonathan Haggerty seeks to build on his ongoing three-fight winning streak, the last one coming last November over Russian Vladimir Kuzmin by way of majority decision. He has also had two “lesson-filled” flyweight world title clashes with Thai superstar Rodtang Jitmuangnon in the past, which he said only helped him grow as a fighter.

Looking to frustrate the British fighter in his push is Nong-O, who has successfully defended the bantamweight Muay Thai gold seven times. The most recent of his defenses was the knockout he inflicted on Russian Alaverdi Ramazanov back in January at ONE Friday Fights 1.

ONE Fight Night 9 will feature 10 Muay Thai and mixed martial arts fights and will be aired live and for free to all North American fans with an active Prime Video subscription.
