At ONE on Prime Video 4, Jonathan Haggerty makes his long-awaited return to the circle. This time around, ‘The General’ is hitting the reset button by making his debut at bantamweight.

After missing out on the ONE Flyweight Muay Thai World Grand Prix due to an undisclosed illness that pulled him out of two fights at late notice, Haggerty decided to move up a weight class.

Whilst he has been relishing the additional freedom he gets in training camp with not having to make the flyweight limit, bantamweight also provides him with a new set of contenders.

In an interview with ONE Championship, Haggerty discussed the bantamweights that he may cross paths with down the line, including fellow Brit Liam Harrison:

“Let's do it. I like Liam. I like his style. I like him as a person. Like, you know, when there's fans to be entertained, they have to be entertained and if they want that, that's what they can get.”

A battle of Britain between Haggerty and Harrison would be a huge fight for the division and an even bigger one for the fans. Before he can get to such dream matchups that people have wanted to see for a long time, ‘The General’ must successfully make an imprint on the division on November 18.

Jonathan Haggerty will face Vladimir Kuzmin on his bantamweight debut, live and free for Prime Video subscribers.

“I can’t lie, I’m loving it” - Jonathan Haggerty is enjoying the preparations at bantamweight so far

After Jonathan Haggerty promised fans that he would come back even stronger from back-to-back fight cancelations due to illness, no one thought that he meant literally.

At ONE on Prime Video 4, the former flyweight Muay Thai world champion will make his debut at 145lbs against Russia’s Vladimir Kuzmin.

Whilst it’s a fresh challenge for him in terms of opposition, ‘The General’ is also excited by the personal changes that moving up a weight class brings.

In an interview with The MMA Superfan, Haggerty spoke about how he is enjoying his preparations at bantamweight far more than flyweight as he doesn’t have to be as strict on himself:

“The main thing is, really man, I’m a lot happier, socializing a lot more, and yeah, a lot more weight. To get to flyweight, I was eating a lot of fish and mainly just fish. But now, I’m on the steak, I’m on the chicken. I can’t lie, I’m loving it! So we’ll just see how it gets on. I have faith in myself. My team has faith in me. I’m sure we’re gonna go out there and crush it and make a statement. And who knows what’s on the horizon?”
