Jonathan Haggerty is prepared to suffer the physical consequences to become a world champion again.
Haggerty had to make plenty of sacrifices to become ONE flyweight Muay Thai world champion. Now that he’s moved up to bantamweight, ‘The General’ plans to take the same risks to achieve greatness. The 26-year-old posted a throwback photo of himself holding ONE gold in a hospital bed, with the caption saying:
“About to do it again. 🙏🏼🇬🇧@onechampionship”
Haggerty made his ONE Championship debut in January 2019, defeating Joseph Lasiri by unanimous decision. In his second appearance in the Circle, ‘The General’ became the flyweight Muay Thai world champion with a decision win against Sam-A Gaiyanghadao.

The U.K. native wasn’t able to defend his throne, losing his next two fights against Rodtang Jitmuangnon. He bounced back with three consecutive wins against Taiki Naito, Mongkolpetch Petchyindee, and Vladimir Kuzmin. Haggerty has since announced he plans to fight at bantamweight.

Fans show support to Jonathan Haggerty ahead of ONE Fight Night 9 matchup against Nong-O Hama
On April 21, Jonathan Haggerty looks to further his legacy by dethroning Nong-O Hama at ONE Fight Night 9 on Prime Video. Although Haggerty is the underdog, he has plenty of fans cheering him on.
When ‘The General’ posted the throwback photo on Instagram, fans filled the comment section with praise, including some saying:

Haggerty is going to have his hands full at ONE Fight Night 9. Since making his promotional debut in 2018, Nong-O Hama has been victorious in all 10 appearances in the Circle. The Thai superstar’s last three wins were against Felipe Lobo, Liam Harrison, and Alaverdi Ramazanov, all inside the distance.
Nong-O vs. Haggerty will headline ONE Fight Night 9 in Singapore. The official fight card is still being put together, but several bouts have been revealed - Bokang Masunyane vs. Hiroba Minowa, Jhanlo Mark Sangiao vs. Matias Farinelli, and Denice Zamboanga vs. Julie Mezabarba. The event can be seen live and for free by North American Prime Video subscribers.
