‘The General’ Jonathan Haggerty made a strong statement at ONE on Prime Video 4 this past Friday in taking home his first victory in the bantamweight division.
In defeating Russian powerhouse Vladimir Kuzmin by a close margin, the Englishman is excited to stay active and fight as soon as possible. The 26-year-old phenom left it up to his growing fanbase on Instagram to decide who could be his next opponent.
Writing in the caption, “Who is next @onechampionship 😈,” Haggerty fans eagerly accepted the challenge, offering ‘The General’ the following names:
“Savaas or kuzmin rematch”

“Kulabdam [Sor. Jor. Piek Uthai]”
“Saemapetch vs Haggerty it's gonna be FIRE 🔥🔥”
“Rodtang rematch....🙌”
A Kuzmin rematch could well be on the cards since the Russian striker lost by majority decision. Both fighters gave highly entertaining performances with non-stop action from beginning to end, so it wouldn’t be surprising if the two met again inside the Circle.
However, for Jonathan Haggerty, who wants to eventually challenge Nong-O for the world title, it would be in his best interest to face someone in the top rankings.
Kulabdam could be a good test for the confident Englishman and although he’s on a two-fight skid, the 24-year-old striker brings a lot of skill and intensity into all his fights. Meanwhile, Saemapetch Fairtex would be the most dangerous among the suggestions from fans.
Sitting at No.1 in the rankings, Saemapetch would absolutely make Haggerty work for the victory. His experience and physical aggression would be overwhelming, but if ‘The General’ can beat him, it could punch his ticket to a world title shot with Nong-O.
At the end of the day, Jonathan Haggerty will not be short on potential challenges. He'll be ready to take on anyone who’s willing to fight him next.
Jonathan Haggerty relieved he got the win after a closely-contended match with Vladimir Kuzmin
Jonathan Haggerty put on a brilliant performance against Vladimir Kuzmin at ONE on Prime Video 4. Although he didn’t start off strong during the weigh-ins like he wanted, ‘The General’ still came out on top at catchweight.
Gaining the win by majority decision, Haggerty expressed relief to Mitch Chilson in the post-fight interview and said:
“It was a tough fight, it could’ve went either way, that’s why I fought in there. Hats off to Vladimir, he’s a great opponent man, probably one of the strongest hitters I’ve been in there with. But like I said, I’m in bantamweight now, so that’s what I can expect. But yeah, I feel like I’ve done the job properly.”
