Jonathan Haggerty will make his long-awaited return to the circle at ONE on Prime Video 4 on November 18.

After being forced to withdraw from both the ONE flyweight muay thai world grand prix quarterfinals and a tournament alternate bout at a later date, ‘The General’ is on his way back, but this time, it will be as a bantamweight.

Eager to get a fight in before the clock runs out in 2022, Jonathan Haggerty will go up a weight class to take on Russian striker Vladimir Kuzmin in a bantamweight Muay Thai matchup.

While ‘The General’ has made his mark as a former ONE flyweight Muay Thai world champion already, Haggerty could look at making a transition into mixed martial arts. Speaking with The MMA Superfan, Haggerty confirmed that dabbling in the world of MMA is always a possibility:

“MMA is definitely on the cards. I know I keep saying it. You’ll see me one day doing a triangle lock. You’ll be shocked. I grew up in an MMA gym since I was right around six with my father. I’ve been messing about, rolling about, and I’ve been taking classes here and there. Be careful.”

Jonathan Haggerty previously indicated his interest in MMA, offering to be the official replacement for a mixed-rules bout between Demetrious Johnson and Rodtang Jitmuangnon at ONE X.

Jonathan Haggerty’s transition to MMA could come sooner rather than later

Continuing his conversation with The MMA Superfan, Jonathan Haggerty suggested that a move to MMA could come fairly soon. As a former ONE flyweight Muay Thai world champion, ‘The General’ doesn’t have a lot left to prove in The Art of Eight Limbs.

Confident in his skills on the feet and on the ground, Haggerty could be compelled to mix it up with another mixed martial artist in the near future;

"With the MMA sparring, I wouldn’t obviously do it while I’m in fight camp. I just do it when I’m out of fight camp just to keep active. Who knows, I could be going into MMA real soon. So just to get the rounds in, getting used to it, it's no harm. But like I said, I won’t be doing that in fight camp."

After back-to-back losses to reigning flyweight Muay Thai titleholder Rodtang Jitmuangnon, Jonathan Haggerty bounced back with two straight wins over Taiki Naito and Mongkolpetch Petchyindee. He’ll look to make it three in a row with a win over formidable Russian foe Vladimir Kuzmin at ONE on Prime Video 4.
