For reigning ONE bantamweight kickboxing world champion and former bantamweight Muay Thai king Jonathan Haggerty, losing to arch-rival Superlek Kiatmoo9 last month, was a bitter pill to swallow.

Haggerty was unceremoniously ejected from his seat atop the bantamweight Muay Thai throne by a 49-second knockout care of Superlek at ONE 168: Denver last month.

A capacity crowd at Denver, Colorado's Ball Arena played witness to the destruction, and it certainly was not how Haggerty envisioned the fight going.

Nevertheless, Haggerty has since moved on from the defeat and is focusing on the future instead of dwelling on the past.

Speaking to Sky Sports MMA Club podcast in a recent guest interview, Haggerty gave credit to long-time coach Christian Knowles for helping him deal with the loss mentally.

'The General' said:

"I think it was probably my Coach, Christian Knowles, telling me just remember what I’ve done for the sport already and you’re still just 27. This is a little small speed bump on the road, and there’s many more heights to come."

Needless to say, fans can expect Haggerty to be back in no time, as the 27-year-old Team Underground representative says he will make another run for the bantamweight Muay Thai gold soon.

Jonathan Haggerty believes he "should have relaxed a little bit" against Superlek Kiatmoo9

'Jonathan Haggerty admits he may have been too excited to deliver a beatdown, which is why he got served up his own in a rematch with Superlek Kiatmoo9 at ONE 168: Denver.

The 27-year-old Englishman believes he may have rushed into the elbow that ended his night early, now looking back on it.

'The General' said:

"Like I said before, I felt great. In the back room, I think i warmed up a little bit too long. It was dragged out a little bit. I should have relaxed a little bit, but I was very eager to go for this one. I was ready to go, I was eager."
