“They’re not going to get back up” – Jonathan Haggerty says he has more KO power at bantamweight

Former ONE flyweight Muay Thai champion Jonathan Haggerty is set to make his bantamweight debut at ONE on Prime Video 4. The 25-year-old striker is confident he'll gain one-punch knockout power in his new weight class.

'The General' will take on Russia's Vladimir Kuzmin in what will be Haggerty's first bout since his unanimous decision victory over Mongkolpetch Petchyindee at ONE Championship: Bad Blood in March 2022.

Surprisingly, the British superstar doesn't have any knockout victories under the ONE banner. He recently spoke with ONE Championship to discuss how he's feeling heading into the bantamweight debut:

“I know stepping up a division, it’s going to be harder to put them away. But I’ve got a saying. In the flyweight division, I was struggling to keep them on the canvas. But now that I’m in the bantamweight division and I’m bigger, they’re going to stay down, and they’re not going to get back up.”

Jonathan Haggerty is ready for battle

Haggerty's upcoming opponent has just two ONE appearances under his belt. He fell to Muangthai PK Saenchai in his lone Muay Thai bout, but Haggerty isn't underestimating Kuzmin.

In fact, Jonathan Haggerty told ONE that it'll be a tough fight, but his experience will be the difference-maker:

“You know, it is a tricky opponent for my first bantamweight fight, but like I said, I’m always ready. I will be ready. But I’m expecting him to come out and put the pressure on me with his hands. He can try outmuscling me, but I feel like the counterstrikes and my Muay Thai experience will kick in.”

Interestingly, it's possible for fans to see Haggerty take part in mixed martial arts down the line. In fact, the Brit claims to train in MMA when he's not in fight camp.
