Jonathan Haggerty's team is comprised of former Muay Thai champion Christian Knowles, five-time heavyweight Muay Thai world champion Lyndon Knowles, and ONE Muay Thai fighter Liam Nolan.
Although it only takes two men to enter the ring and fight, it takes the effort of an entire team to get them there. Haggerty has surrounded himself with a great team of former world champions and fighters to get him where he is today.
Here's to hoping they have a safe and comfortable flight to Asia.
Jonathan Haggerty explains why he decided to move up to bantamweight
After two canceled bouts due to health concerns, Haggerty decided to leave the division he's fought in for most of his career. 'The General' has decided it's time to move up to 145 pounds and test the waters at ONE bantamweight Muay Thai.
In an interview with The MMA Superfan, 'The General' explained why he made the decision to move up in weight:
"The last time I made 61 kilos, I made the weight, but it's really the hyrdration, really. Just keeping myself hydrated, it's difficult to keep the balance... And in the next one, you know, my body must have just grown. I had a 12-week camp for Walter Goncalves and I started to fade in the last bit. I started to peak just a little bit early and, yeah you know, it was hard. I was doing it all by myself and I thought, 'I cannot afford to just not fight again this year. Let me go to bantamweight... Let me knock on their door.' Yeah man, I'm excited. Who knows, it might be the new me. "
Judging from his past performances at flyweight, it's surprising that Jonathan Haggerty was at a deficit health-wise as he was fighting like a world-class fighter in there.
Perhaps he'll be even more lethal now that he's healthier and in a more hydrated shape than before.
