Former ONE flyweight Muay Thai world champion Jonathan Haggerty isn't just a ferocious striker, he also boasts a very high level of fight I.Q. Just when you think he'll come at you like a freight train, 'The General' will pull off some slick moves to take you off guard.

In a video released by ONE Championship on Instagram, we saw the fighting Brit pull off a slick foot sweep after a sneaky feint. His fellow ONE Muay Thai fighter, Liam Harrison, would be proud.

"Got 'em! 👌 Will we see Jonathan Haggerty take the throne when he challenges ONE Bantamweight Muay Thai World Champion Nong-O Hama on April 21 at ONE Fight Night 9 on Prime Video? 👊 @jhaggerty_"

This is mental conditioning at its finest. Haggerty set the tone by going kick-for-kick with his sparring partner. He then does a hop-step to get his partner to raise his knee for a check. From there, with his partner standing on just one leg, 'The General' easily put him on his backside with a slick foot-sweep.

Jonathan Haggerty will need all his in-ring savvy to out-fight and out-smart one of the best tacticians today, Nong-O Hama. 'The General' will face the great Nong-O in the main event of ONE Fight Night 9 on April 21.

Jonathan Haggerty's opponent, Nong-O Hama, pulled off the same move 5 years ago

Not to downplay Haggerty's cool move in the gym, but his ONE Fight Night 9 opponent, Nong-O Hama, pulled off the same thing in a live fight. The Thai legend performed the same foot sweep on his ONE Championship debut in April 2018. The person he did it to was multi-time world champion Fabio Pinca.

You can almost imagine Nong-O saying, "that's cute", upon seeing Jonathan Haggerty's sparring video. The master tactician can switch from a wily slickster to an absolute berzerker at the drop of a hat. He went on to win the Fabio Pinca fight via unanimous decision and hasn't lost a single bout since.

What makes the feat even more remarkable is that it's Nong-O's first fight in three years. The Thai all-time great famously retired from the sport to focus on teaching, only to come back and dominate the sport like no other. Jonathan Haggerty better bring his A-game and more when they face off.

ONE Fight Night 9 will air live and for free to all Prime Video subscribers in North America.
