Jonathan Haggerty and Rodtang Jitmuangnon may have shared an epic two-part rivalry throughout their flying ONE Championship careers, but that does not mean there is no mutual respect or admiration between the two.
'The General' — then the ONE flyweight Muay Thai world champion — met the Jitmuangnon Gym superstar at ONE: Dawn of Heroes in August 2019. They also ran it back five months later at the start of 2020.
Though the Englishman would go on to lose to 'The Iron Man' in both fixtures, Haggerty learned a lot from that two-match skid.

Apart from discovering areas for improvement, the London native was predominantly impressed by the Thai fighter's ability to go from zero to a hundred in the blink of an eye.
Speaking on the Winners Talking Podcast, Jonathan Haggerty responded to the host's jaw-dropping reaction to Rodtang's ability to flick the switch by saying:
"How he switches it on in there is mad, isn't it? It's mad how he can switch it on in there and go savage. It's crazy."

Shortly after bouncing back with two unanimous decision wins over Taiki Naito and Mongkolpetch Petchyindee, Haggerty bid the division goodbye to start afresh in the bantamweight bracket.
The London native claimed both the division's Muay Thai and kickboxing gold last year in a pair of marvelous knockout wins over Nong-O Hama and Fabricio Andrade, which took him to the top of the charts.
Unfortunately for the Brit, he lost his Muay Thai crown to Superlek Kiatmoo9 in their main event showdown at ONE 168: Denver this past September.
He and Rodtang remain open to adding another chapter to their epic rivalry.
"We have a fight date" - Jonathan Haggerty ready to resume his mission in ONE Championship
Just last week, Jonathan Haggerty took to his Instagram profile to share that he's got his next fight booked under the ONE banner.
Alongside a picture from his recent rematch with Superlek, Haggerty wrote:
"We have a fight date! Time to get back to winning ways!"
Given that Superlek will defend his recently acquired bantamweight Muay Thai world title against No. 2-ranked Nico Carrillo at ONE 170 on Jan. 24, it is highly likely that 'The General's' next bout will mark his first test as the bantamweight kickboxing divisional king.
