"Kicking MACHINE 🦵💥 Jonathan Haggerty looks to dethrone ONE Bantamweight Muay Thai World Champion Nong-O on April 21 at ONE Fight Night 9 on Prime Video! Can "The General" bring home the gold? 🏆"
Jonathan Haggerty chose Muay Thai over MMA in pursuit of a ONE Championship world title
'The General' acquired ONE Championship's flyweight Muay Thai crown by beating Sam-A Gaiyanghadao in his second promotional appearance. He then relinquished the belt to Rodtang Jitmuangnon.
Afterward, Haggerty and his team sat down to discuss his future. The 26-year-old decided to chase another Muay Thai title, telling The MMA Superfan:
“The plan was, I sat down with my team, and there were two options. We can go bantamweight Muay Thai or we can go fully into MMA. I chose bantamweight Muay Thai because I feel like I want to get the belt again at Muay Thai. I’m destined to get that. I want that belt, especially the new belt. We chose Muay Thai.”
He now has the chance to become world champ once again, but he has to beat Nong-O, who hasn't lost inside the circle. The champ is a perfect 10-0 under ONE's banner, with five consecutive stoppage victories.
Be sure to tune in to ONE Fight Night 9 on April 21 to see Jonathan Haggerty challenge the great Nong-O Hama for the undisputed bantamweight Muay Thai world title, live from the Lumpinee Boxing Stadium in Bangkok, Thailand.
All of the action will be broadcast live and for free to Amazon Prime subscribers across North America.
