Shavkat Rakhmonov reveals he wanted to fight Kamaru Usman at UFC 310, but Usman rejected the fight
Shavkat Rakhmonov was set to compete for the welterweight title against reigning champion Belal Muhammad. However, Muhammad pulled out of the bout due to a foot infection, leaving the Kazakh fighter without an opponent.
Ian Garry subsequently stepped in to accept the fight, and the two are now set to clash at UFC 310.
Speaking on Submission Radio, the 30-year-old revealed that he wanted to fight Kamaru Usman but 'The Nigerian Nightmare' didn't accept the fight. He also named the other fighters who were offered the assignment, stating:
"I wanted to fight Kamaru Usman, but he didn't accept the fight… Also, they offered [Carlos] Prates, but he was injured. Colby Covington rejected the fight. I'm very happy that Ian Garry accepted the fight."
