Jorge Masvidal laments the unlikelihood of facing Conor McGregor despite the UFC's interest. Masvidal, stepping out of retirement for a boxing rematch with Nate Diaz, still sees a McGregor fight as a blockbuster. However, he doubts it will materialize.

Masvidal told MMA Junkie that 'The Notorious' avoids mentioning him directly, only resorting to "stupid things." He believes McGregor fears a stand-up fight:

"He’s never addressed me, only to say like stupid things or something, but he’s never addressed a fight with me or something because he is scared sh*tless... He knows I'm not going to take him down... I'm going to beat the f*ck out of him standing... He knows with Nate Diaz, he got his ass whooped... I think Conor analyzes those things and thinks, 'Man, this dude is as mean as he looks and athletic. I want no part of this guy.'"

Masvidal also claimed that the UFC attempted to organize the fight, however, the Irishman allegedly declined:

"The UFC has tried to make this fight happen and Conor doesn’t want it, He doesn’t want the damn fight. He never mentions my name, but we’re the biggest fight possible. You think Michael Chandler sells more than me vs. Conor? Nobody in their right mind thinks that. … I’m one of the biggest pay-per-view draws of the UFC in the last five six years. Of course we’d break record, but this guy won’t do it. … In my future, I don’t see this fight happening unless I run into him at a parking lot.”

Conor McGregor prioritizes full recovery over fighting injured

UFC fans were set to witness Conor McGregor's return after a long absence, but a broken toe forced him to pull out of his fight against Michael Chandler at UFC 303. This extends his inactivity to over three years.

While McGregor acknowledged fighting through injuries in the past, he offered a new perspective on his withdrawal.

During a recent appearance at Bellator Dublin, he said:

"If I was in a different part of my career and as I have done, as I've proven, I've made the walk. I've taken those chances and then at times where I probably could've just taken a little postponement, a little bit, and give the fans what they deserve. The fans don't deserve to see the fighters walk in there hindered and then hear about it after."

The Irishman emphasized a desire for a fully prepared return. He acknowledged a "lapse in concentration" during training led to the broken toe and vowed to be "100% Conor McGregor" when he steps back into the octagon.
