Jorge Masvidal's remarks suggest that he believes Covington's claims of a brain injury were not genuine, and may have been made to garner sympathy or deflect criticism. The comments come at a time when Covington is being touted as a possible contender for the UFC welterweight title, a prospect that Masvidal is seemingly not in favor of.

During a recent pre-fight media day appearance, 'Gamebred' remarked:

"I currently got three felonies, cause of this b*tch Colby says I gave him brain injury, so how the f*ck you gonna fight for any title ? The UFC's gonna get suied if that guy goes in there something like that. Cause supposedly, allegedly I didn't do sh*t."

For those who may have forgotten, there was an incident at a restaurant where Jorge Masvidal reportedly approached Colby Covington and punched him unexpectedly. The former interim champion decided to involve the police, and Masvidal later surrendered to the authorities. The altercation is said to have been sparked by Covington's alleged verbal attacks on Masvidal's family.

In essence, this event highlights the personal nature of the rivalry between these two fighters. While physical altercations are never condoned, it's clear that there is a history of animosity and bad blood between the Miami inhabitants.

Gilbert Burns vs. Jorge Masvidal betting odds at UFC 287

The excitement surrounding UFC 287 is reaching fever pitch, as the highly-anticipated clash between Jorge Masvidal and Gilbert Burns looms large on the horizon. Burns, the No.5-ranked fighter in the welterweight division, is set to take on Masvidal, the No.11-ranked contender, in what promises to be a scintillating bout on April 8th.

Despite both fighters being former welterweight title challengers, Burns is currently the clear favorite going into the fight, with bookmakers heavily favoring the Brazilian.

In fact, DraftKings has set the odds at -435 for Burns, meaning that bettors would need to wager $435 to earn a return of $100 if the fighter emerges victorious. Conversely, Masvidal is viewed as a significant underdog, with odds of +350 indicating that a $100 bet on 'Gamebred' would yield a return of $350 if he wins.

This discrepancy in the odds reflects Burns' impressive recent form, as he holds a six-game winning streak, including dominant victories over Tyron Woodley and Demian Maia. Masvidal, by contrast, has suffered back-to-back defeats against Kamaru Usman and Darren Till. Although his reputation as a fierce and unpredictable competitor should not be underestimated.
