Jorge Masvidal was excited to see Renato Moicano emerge victorious in the main event of UFC Paris.

On Saturday, Sept. 28, No. 11-ranked lightweight Moicano faced Benoit Saint Denis in the latter's home country. The UFC Paris main event quickly went in the wrong direction for the fans in attendance. Moicano secured an early takedown against Saint Denis and inflicted severe damage on the ground.

Heading into round two, Saint Denis needed to turn things around, which he began with a slow second frame to regain composure. The Frenchman seemed to be shaking off the cobwebs, but unfortunately, the doctor stepped in before round three, calling an end to the fight due to the severe damage on his face.

Moicano's stoppage win was an impressive statement in the lightweight division. Jorge Masvidal, who trains at American Top Team with Moicano, reacted to Saturday's result by saying this on his temporary Instagram story:

Renato Moicano's latest octagon appearance extended his winning streak, which features Brad Riddell, Drew Dober, Jalin Turn, and Benoit Saint Denis. Following UFC Paris, the 35-year-old Brazilian called out number five-ranked lightweight Dan Hooker by saying the latter doesn't deserve a spot in the top five.

Is Jorge Masvidal returning to the UFC?

In April 2023, Jorge Masvidal announced his retirement from mixed martial arts following a unanimous loss against Gilbert Burns, extending his skid to four fights. Fans speculated that Masvidal would eventually return for another run, as his entire life has been surrounded by combat sports.

Earlier this year, Masvidal fought Nate Diaz in an entertaining ten-round professional boxing match. Diaz emerged victorious by majority decision in a result that could've gone either way. Since then, 'Gamebred' has mentioned in interviews that he's interested in returning to mixed martial arts, specifically the UFC.

Dana White was asked about Masvidal's interest earlier this month during a Contender Series post-event press conference. White didn't turn down the potential scenario, claiming it was "interesting."

At 39 years old, Masvidal could be poised for one final run in the welterweight division. Considering his star power, the Miami native could have various options for a return fight in 2025.
