Jorge Masvidal recently expressed his thoughts after learning about Tyson Fury's retirement from boxing. Fury announced his retirement through his social media accounts.
Fury's last fight against Oleksandr Usyk gave him a chance to avenge his loss in the undisputed heavyweight championship fight held in May 2024. However, the results of the December 2024-based rematch were even more distressing as Fury lost via unanimous decision compared to his previous split-decision defeat.
'The Gypsy King' ruled the boxing ring with an undefeated record till 2023. But the previous year proved to be disappointing for him as he lost both of his fights. The two defeats also took away his undefeated record along with his WBC heavyweight gold leaving him with a record of 34-2-1.
The 36-year-old recently posted a video on his Instagram account mentioning that he has done enough in the sport and had planned to retire. Fury said:

"Hi everybody. I'm gonna make this short and sweet. I'd like to announce my retirement from boxing. It's been a blast. I've loved every single minute of it and I'm gonna end with this. Dick Turpin wore a mask. God bless everybody. See you on the other side."
Masvidal gave Fury his flowers for a "legendary" career inside the ring. His comment on the post read:
"Legendary fighter"
What could Tyson Fury possibly mean by saying 'Dick Turpin wore a mask'?
Out of all the words Tyson Fury said in his retirement video, one line seems to be a bit out of place. Several fans may be confused about the significance of the "Dick Turpin wore a mask" line he mentioned.
Turpin was an infamous highwayman who was executed for his robberies and killings in 1739 at the age of 33. Turpin's usage of a mask while committing crimes had his living victims say similar lines in his memory. Since then, this line has been used by people to signify that they were robbed.
Fury has made multiple statements counting himself victorious in both fights against Oleksandr Usyk ignoring the official results. The Turpin-phrase in his retirement video hence appears to be another reminder of his belief about being robbed of a victory two times.
