Jorge Masvidal's return to the octagon will come against Gilbert Burns at UFC 287.

Despite being linked to a potential bout with Jake Paul in the future, the No.11-ranked welterweight recently revealed he has no interest in facing the former YouTube star. Speaking to Karisa Maxwell of The Sporting News, 'Gamebred' stated:

"In MMA, that's not gonna happen. Ever. It doesn't matter what they offer that individual. He's not a draw, I'll be honest with you. It's proven. I'm in the promoter business. If influencers were selling pay-per-views like that, I would book these influencers. They don't sell. His biggest draw was against I don't know, [Tyron] Woodley or something, and got 80,000 buys."

"What am I doing fighting this guy? Two things are why I signed up for this sport - to fight the best in the world or to make the most money possible. He doesn't fit either of those criterias. So, would I see Jake Paul right now and allegedly just beat his a**? Yeah, I would, but in a prize-fighting ring? It doesn't really serve me a purpose because I'm a prize fighter, and he doesn't bring a prize in any way shape or form."

Jorge Masvidal added that Jake Paul is attempting to boost his name by calling him out ahead of his bout against Gilbert Burns. He also claimed that the social media personality runs away when they cross paths in person.

Jorge Masvidal's return: 'Gamebred' could retire with a loss at UFC 287

Jorge Masvidal has lost three consecutive fights, two of which were for the welterweight title. The No.11-ranked welterweight is looking for another title opportunity with a victory over Gilbert Burns at UFC 287.

During the UFC 287 Countdown, 'Gamebred' revealed that he could walk away from mixed martial arts if he is unable to defeat his opponent. He said:

"This could be the last one. If I lose, I'm pretty much calling it quits, but a win against Gilbert means that things are headed in the right direction so if I roll the dice and I do everything right, I'm going for it all. For one title or many titles."

Masvidal's history with welterweight champion Leon Edwards could earn him a title opportunity if he wins. 'Gamebred' infamously gave the welterweight champion a 'three-piece and a soda' backstage at UFC Fight Night 147 in 2019. If he takes his fourth consecutive loss at UFC 287, he could choose to retire in front of his hometown Miami crowd.
