Josh Taylor and Jack Catterall will finally settle their differences tonight in a rematch two years in the making. While no title will be on the line, their pride and egos are both at stake. Taylor, who is 19-1, has faced questions about the merits of his past victory over Catterall, whose record stands at 28-1.
Many are of the belief that the Scotsman was handed an undeserved win over Catterall, who fans feel outboxed him during their 2022 encounter. Moreover, some have questioned whether Taylor is on a career downswing, despite being just 33 years old with 20 professional fights to his name.
This stems from his recent loss. After defending his WBA (Super), WBC, IBF, WBO, and The Ring light welterweight titles against Catterall, Taylor went on to face Teofimo Lopez, to whom he lost his WBO and The Ring straps. In response, Taylor aims to prove his detractors wrong.
Meanwhile, Catterall is determined to right the perceived wrong of the judges' verdict of their initial bout. The matchup, which is scheduled for 12 rounds at light welterweight/super lightweight, is expected to be close, with Taylor a +130 underdog and Catterall a -160 favorite according to DraftKings Sportsbook.
