Joshua Pacio determined to come back stronger after loss to Jarred Brooks

Former ONE strawweight king Joshua Pacio isn't giving up following losing his world title at ONE Championship 164. In fact, he says that he'll return stronger than ever before.

'The Passion' made a trio of successful title defenses before running into Jarred Brooks. Despite suffering his first defeat since January 2019, Pacio is unfazed and determined to regain the belt that once belonged to him.

Pacio recently spoke to ONE about his imminent return, stating:

"I never give up no matter what. I just need to keep training hard and improve some areas of my game. This time I’ll give extra time to increase the firepower of my offense, add more combinations and work on my setups."

Joshua Pacio continued, saying:

"Eliminate those stagnant moments that were stopping me to unleash my full potential inside the ONE circle."

The former long-time strawweight champ plans to return with a relentless, unwavering style that he believes will be enough to dethrone Brooks.

Joshua Pacio reveals what cost him his world title

Considering his past dominance, many expected Pacio to defeat Brooks and retain his world title. However, 'The Monkey God' managed to edge out a unanimous decision win and remain unbeaten inside the circle.

In the fight's aftermath, Pacio revealed what may have cost him the win, saying

“The game plan was to strike and to slow him down. In the early rounds, I was landing some solid shots in the body together with my leg kicks."

'The Passion' added, claiming:

"I was also able to defend him on the ground, but in the championship rounds, my combinations came up short. I became hesitant and just waited for him to move which I think cost me the match.”

Prior to the loss at ONE 164, Pacio had finished three of his prior four opponents, including a first-round knockout over Yosuke Saruta in September 2021.
