Junto Nakatani vs. Vincent Astrolabio full highlights

The Junto Nakatani vs. Astrolabio fight did not last long, ending quickly in round one. Both men opened the fight tentatively, gauging the distance. Nakatani's game plan was to stay on the outside as he usually does, maintaining a long range for his opponent to lunge through, running them into stinging left hands.

Meanwhile, Astrolabio sought to cut off Nakatani's angles of escape, close the distance, and draw him into pocket-boxing exchanges. Their respective approaches were on display on occasion, but as the round progressed, Nakatani began finding openings for his straight left.

Then, in under three minutes of round one, the WBC bantamweight champion drew his foe's guard high with a right jab before blasting his exposed body with a straight left that folded him. Astrolabio collapsed to the mat, and the referee gave him a moment.

While Astrolabio eventually stood back up, he collapsed again just a second afterward, prompting the referee to wave the fight off.

Nakatani retained the WBC bantamweight title and, in doing so, handed Astrolabio his second loss in world title action, as the Filipino star recently lost to Jason Moloney for WBO bantamweight gold. Where both men go from here is anyone's guess.

Astrolabio will likely go back to the drawing board if he hopes to keep his world title dreams alive. Meanwhile, Nakatani continues to build his legacy in tandem as he celebrated his win in the ring with his friend and training partner, Anthony Olascuaga, who captured the WBO flyweight title on the same card.
