Former interim UFC lightweight champion Justin Gaethje just cast his vote in the current US presidential race, proudly naming Donald Trump as his candidate for the next POTUS.

Trump, who is largely popular in the MMA community, has a strong pull on UFC fighters, including Gaethje, a proud Republican. 'The Highlight' took to X to proclaim his vote and urged everyone to exact their right to vote for their country's next leader.

Gaethje tweeted:

"Just cast my vote for @realDonaldTrump Proud to be an American since the day I was born. Proud to represent the USA. Get out there and vote for whoever you think will lead this country to peace and prosperity for this is all we strive for. Either way, continue to be a good neighbor. We need each other as much as ever"

When Justin Gaethje received a call from Donald Trump

Last year, after his highlight-reel finish of Dustin Poirier for the UFC BMF belt at UFC 291, Justin Gaethje received a congratulatory call from former US President Donald Trump. 'The Highlight' revealed this story to TMZ just days after his head-kick KO, saying that Trump praised him for his performance and even invited him to play golf sometime.

Gaethje said:

"I got a call from Trump, that was awesome. He f**king loves fighting, man. He loves it. He called me and just telling me how good I did, how proud of me he was, how impressive of a show it was and that If I'm ever in New York or Florida, hit him up and hopefully we can golf."

Trump has been an avid MMA fan for a while now, having attended many UFC live events and sitting cageside with UFC CEO Dana White, with whom he's close friends. It's no surprise that he called the former interim UFC lightweight champion as he pulled off one of the most beautiful head-kick KOs in UFC history.
