Kade and Tye Ruotolo never gravitated towards ball sports

Kade Ruotolo and his brother Tye grew up playing and competing in individual sports.

When they aren't working on their grappling or martial arts skills, it's very likely that you will find the twins surfing or skating.

They now get to focus all of their energy on their favorite pastimes when living out in the paradise of Costa Rica.

Despite this natural gravitation towards always keeping themselves busy through physical pursuits, Kade recently revealed that this didn't translate to all sports.

He spoke on The MMA Hour about how ball sports in particular was something that neither brother could wrap their heads around despite their versatility in other fields:

"It's funny, we love surfing, we love skating, we love sports like that but when it came up to ball sports, we were just the most uncoordinated. I don't know why, it was the funniest thing. Baseball, it was the worst thing you've ever seen. We did a year of soccer, but we definitely were more fond of like skateboarding, surfing, fishing, and things like that."

Kade Ruotolo has already proven himself to be flexible

Kade Ruotolo is much more than just one of the best submission grapplers on the planet today.

Whilst he may not have been able to transfer his athletic skills into ball sports, he has made the transition over to compete in MMA.

Kade got his hand raised at ONE 167 after he submitted Blake Cooper to kick off his account in MMA.

For now, he will turn his attention back towards submission grappling for a huge dream clash that will go down at the Ball Arena in Denver.

Kade will be defending his lightweight submission grappling world championship against the flyweight titleholder, Mikey Musumeci in a huge moment for the sport on September 6.

Tickets for ONE 168: Denver are available via Ticketmaster.
