Reigning and undisputed ONE lightweight submission grappling world champion Kade Ruotolo, and his twin brother Tye Ruotolo, the ONE welterweight submission grappling king, have a long-standing feud with BJJ superstar Gordon Ryan.

The Ruotolo brothers and Ryan have had beef for the longest time, and many people don't really understand where it started.

Kade has finally cleared the air and explained exactly how this feud originated.

He said on the Beasts with Brains podcast with Alex Wendling:

"I feel like it’s been at the same place where it’s been. For me, we never really had like beef with Gordon until it was one of those comments, it was such a goofy comment, it was like ‘If I wasn’t on steroids or whatever performance enhancement drugs, I’d still be able to beat the Ruotolos.’ And I literally burst out laughing when I heard it. So that was when we had to respond. I couldn’t bite my tongue anymore."

The Ruotolo brothers take great pride in being natural athletes, and dominating in a sport rife with use of PEDs (performance enhancing drugs). Ryan, in particular, has openly admitted to using PEDs in jiu-jitsu, deeming it a necessary tool at the highest level of competition.

This, of course, is against everything Kade Ruotolo and his brother Tye stand for, and the two have taken issue with Ryan over it.

The 21-year-old BJJ black belt is set to defend the lightweight gold against his Italian-American counterpart at ONE 168: Denver, which broadcasts live from the Ball Arena in Denver, Colorado on Friday, September 6th.
