ONE grappling stars Kade and Tye Ruotolo were recently seen spending time in the beautiful country of Costa Rica catching some waves and putting in some mat time.
The sensational blackbelt twins visited Hero BJJ Retreats, an immersive jiu-jitsu retreat center also acting as a non-profit that offers free training to at-risk youth.
Ahead of his epic submission grappling bout against former ONE light-heavyweight and reigning middleweight world champion Reinier de Ridder, Tye Ruotolo is going all-out in training. This doesn't mean, however, that he's not spending as much time having fun and imparting his knowledge as he can, wherever he is.

In a video released by the Ruotolo Brothers on Instagram, we saw the ADCC Absolutes gold medalist and the ONE lightweight submission grappling world champion going at it on the mats and across the waves in the ocean:
"Surf in the morning train at night. Pura Vida 🌊🥋"
Martial Arts is a language that can be understood regardless of race, gender and belief. It was great to see Kade and Tye Ruotolo sharing their love for jiu-jitsu across different cultures around the world.
In the video, however, we can see that the Ruotolo brothers are not leaving any stone unturned when it comes to training. Tye is potentially meeting the biggest challenge of his young career at ONE Fight Night 10. Reinier de Ridder is a natural middleweight, while Ruotolo is a lightweight at best.
The term "Openweight" will be highly operative in the May 5th battle, as Reinier de Ridder will potentially outweigh Tye Ruotolo by over 30 pounds. When it comes to martial arts contests, size can definitely matter when two combatants meet at a certain skill level.
Openweight bouts are pretty much commonplace in jiu-jitsu tournaments. However, Ruotolo has proven that he can defeat significantly bigger men. Just look at his career-defining performance at the 2022 ADCC World Championships.
