Karate Combat president Asim Zaidi recently discussed an idea he has for a one-night tournament he believes would spark interest from the MMA community. The tournament would be unique in that it would feature former UFC champions and legends competing against each other.
The promotion continues to gain popularity for their matchmaking and production allowing them to create their own rather than trying to replicate another promotion's product. There have been several former champions that have competed in the pit including Benson Henderson, Anthony Pettis and most recently Luke Rockhold, which proves that the promotion is another lucrative destination for fighters.
During his appearance on Quinton 'Rampage' Jackson's JAXXON PODCAST, Zaidi expressed interest in hosting a tournament similar to the All-Valley tournament in 'Cobra Kai'. He named former UFC middleweight champions that would make for interesting rematches and dream fights.
"Two people fighting in Karate Combat, that stuff's been done. There's something that I've been talking about for a while...Holding a tournament with names like Luke Rockhold, Anderson Silva, Michael Bisping. Having like a four-man, six-man tournament with the fighting and then there's an ultimate champion, where you get a huge trophy. Old school karate, 'Cobra Kai' stuff, right? That would be so cool."

Karate Combat president Asim Zaidi describes the pit
Karate Combat has been able to seperate themselves from other combat sports promotion with their bouts taking place in a pit rather than a ring or cage.
During the aforementioned appearance, the promotion's president Asim Zaidi described the benefits of the pit and mentioned that it forces constant action in their bouts. He said:
"Here's what's cool about [the pit]. In that 45-degree angle...once you fall in that, you're virtually helpless. So what that does is it forces the fight in the center. And because of that, there's way more action. Because, if you start backing up and you fall in that pit, you got nothing to do...So it just forces action."
