Kevin Holland did not seem in high spirits about his present circumstances after his most recent setback in the cage. Holland lost over the weekend by way of a rear naked choke in the first round to Reinier de Ridder in their UFC 311 bout on Jan. 18.
This now marks consecutive first-round UFC defeats for Holland who stepped into the cage last Saturday night looking to rebound from his Roman Dolidze loss at UFC 307. Also, Holland has gone 1-4 in his last five fights with a prior pair of back-to-back losses bookending his lone win in this stretch at UFC 302 last June.
It seems like the sting of a fresh defeat is still lingering for Holland but there is also a desire to change his fortunes and get out of his recent skid. Taking it to X, Holland said:
"Been pretty trash lately... Gotta clean [poop emoji] up."

Kevin Holland's beef before he fought at UFC 311
Kevin Holland almost seemed ready to fight someone else in the lead-up to his UFC 311 bout. Prior to his fight last Saturday, Holland appeared on Quinton 'Rampage' Jackson's show, the JAXXON podcast, where things got a bit contentious between the host and guest.
The 32-year-old seemed irritable and aggressive toward 'Rampage' Jackson after an initially playful discussion about how a hypothetical bout between the two could play out. The former UFC light heavyweight champion stayed tempered and composed, and his patience was praised by several high-up names in the MMA world.
Paul Felder mentioned how he did not like Holland bringing up talk about guns and wasn't keen on the expletive-laden way that the UFC middleweight told Jackson to stop talking. During a podcast with Felder, Michael Bisping also offered his thoughts on the Holland podcast situation with Jackson.
Jackson's former training partner understood the ability of a proven veteran to show that sort of restraint in a moment like that. However, Bisping also spoke to understanding that chip-on-the-shoulder framework that a fighter can have while in the middle of their combative career.
The California native may have also taken another loss, albeit unofficially and in the court of public opinion, with uncertainties around Holland's future piling up after just losing to the former two-division ONE Championship titleholder last weekend.
