Khabib Nurmagomedov's coach has addressed Conor McGregor possibly boxing against Logan or Jake Paul. The trainer expounded upon why a McGregor vs. Logan matchup wouldn't be as interesting as McGregor vs. Jake.

On the Javier Mendez Podcast, AKA (American Kickboxing Academy) coach Javier Mendez and podcast co-host Len discussed the recent reports about McGregor potentially fighting one of the Paul brothers in the boxing ring.

Mendez coached Conor McGregor's archnemesis, the retired Khabib Nurmagomedov, who submitted the Irishman in their grudge match in 2018. Well, Mendez has deemed a McGregor-Logan fight uninteresting:

"That's going to be a bomb. His brother hasn't won a freaking boxing match. Give me a break ... How's that gonna go? What's Logan Paul's fight record? They should do WWE. They're great entertainers ... A real fight, it's no good."

Mendez recalled Logan Paul (1-1 boxing) being "sloppy" and getting thoroughly outworked by retired boxing legend Floyd Mayweather Jr. in their exhibition boxing match. Moreover, he opined that Jake is very technical and boasts good boxing skills.

The coach implied that Jake would be a bad matchup for Conor McGregor (0-1 boxing, 22-6 MMA), but that's the fight he'd rather watch. Mendez suggested that Jake (11-1 boxing) is bigger than McGregor and also skilled, whereas Logan is just bigger but not skilled.

However, Mendez underscored that McGregor and WWE superstar Logan know how to create spectacles:

"That [Conor vs. Jake] is the fight I'd rather watch. But not with Logan. Zero interest from me, as a fan of fighting... So people want to be entertained? Yes. I think Logan Paul can deliver that. And he will fight. He's just not technically good."

Len suggested that McGregor picked Logan because he views him as a more favorable matchup than Jake. He opined that some viewers want to see either of the polarizing Paul brothers get knocked out. Mendez chimed in by saying:

"Logan Paul is very charismatic, very truthful guy. And I like him. But I'm not gonna say he's a good boxer. He's not. I'm not going to say he's a good fighter. He's not. But I will say he's a good athlete. Yes. He's a very good athlete. I've seen his attributes. But he just doesn't take fighting serious is all I'm saying. So when you don't take fighting serious, fighting doesn't produce the results you'd like."

Javier Mendez addressed a potential Islam Makhachev vs. Conor McGregor MMA bout in 2024

In November 2024, UFC CEO and president Dana White indicated that Conor McGregor's MMA comeback in the UFC could transpire in late 2025. Speculation has abounded that McGregor's legal issues and other commitments are delaying his return to the octagon.

Speaking to Red Corner MMA earlier this year, Javier Mendez addressed Conor McGregor's unparalleled star power, emphasizing that the UFC doesn't dictate whom he fights.

Mendez previously claimed that fighting McGregor won't add much to UFC lightweight champion Islam Makhachev's legacy. Regardless, he proposed a fight between his student and McGregor due to the latter being the top box office draw:

"If he fights Islam, for sure I'll be in the corner."
