Velasquez was faced with several charges including attempted murder for an incident that took place in February 2022. The former UFC champion was allegedly engaged in a car chase, where he was following a man accused of molesting the 42-year-old's son. Velasquez allegedly fired shots at the car, which ended up hitting the accused's stepfather, who was also present in the car.
In August 2024, the UFC veteran pleaded no-contest to the charges of attempted murder and assault, among other charges. The sentence for Velasquez is yet to be announced by the court.
